A salt shaker rarely asks for much attention. On October 29, 2026, a one-night exhibition at Museum of Design Atlanta will give that ordinary object a different role: a starting point for experiments in form, material and function.
East Atlanta Clay's first juried Object Show, presented as Shake Things Up: Salt & Pepper Show Pop-Up, runs from 5:30–7:30 p.m. at MODA, 1315 Peachtree Street NE. Participating makers reinterpret salt and pepper shakers through designs ranging from practical objects to sculptural possibilities.
The published program includes opportunities to meet makers and vote for a People's Choice selection. General admission is listed at $12, with registration through MODA and member discounts handled through account login. Check remaining availability and the current event notice before making plans. MODA has no designated parking; review nearby paid options or transit directions.
Look for a design choice you would normally overlook: how an object is held, how its contents emerge, or what makes two pieces feel like a pair. Then consider where practicality and play pull in different directions. An exhibition built around something so familiar can leave you noticing design decisions throughout the rest of your kitchen.
